Raw Pencil Caricatures
These illustrations are completely hand-drawn and offered in two different styles - traditional graphite pencil on extra smooth Bristol Board 250gsm or white pencil on 180gsm back paper. Usually only A4 'head & shoulders', but 'full-figure' can be drawn (please email for a quote).
TURNAROUND TIME
This style of caricature requires at least a weeks notice (earlier deadlines may be possible depending on workload). Once I have confirmed that I can meet your deadline and requirements, I'll then need a few details and a selection of photos from you.
PHOTOS TO SUPPLY
The better the photo, the better the caricature. Please send me a minimum of 5 photographs (emailed if possible please and no more than 8) of each subject, which you feel represent the individual accurately. Make sure that there is a variety in the photos you send me, for example, please don't just send photos of the subject in the same pose, with the same facial expression. If you have photos of them with different expressions, perhaps even pulling a funny face, even better! No sunglasses please (unless you specifically want them included). Photos should be high quality, supplied in colour, taken in good lighting and, if possible, from different angles too (this gives a much better idea of the individual’s characteristics and from this a better likeness is achieved).
Proof Sketch
Proof sketches are not available on raw pencil caricatures. The Illustration is created directly from your description provided. If you require a proof sketch on a commission, please see 'Digital' or 'Pencil' caricature styles.
POSTAGE AND PACKING
The smaller illustrations are sent in a hand-backed envelope, larger sizes are posted in 'toblerone-style' packaging via 'Royal Mail Special Delivery'. Please note, I am currently only able to post to addresses within the UK. Please add £14 p&p to illustration cost listed below.
Payment
Full payment will be required prior to beginning your illustration. Once I've confirmed that I can accept the commission and you've confirmed that you wish to proceed, I will email payment methods to you. This may be made by electronic bank transfer, cheque or PayPal (transaction fee applies with PayPal orders). Unfortunately, I do not accept company Purchase Orders.

My goal is to represent a person in a fun, cartoon style, usually with exaggerated features - a 'caricature'.
My caricature illustrations are based on how I imagine the person's character and look to be, from the quality and content of the photos that are provided to me.
Please bear in mind that I do not know the subject and a lot of the character of him/her is gained by you 'knowing' them. This doesn't always come across in photos.
Before commissioning me to create a caricature, please bear in mind that I am not a 'portrait artist'! If you are hoping for an identical, photographic representation of an individual, then please contact a portrait artist who can suit your requirements. Hopefully, from viewing the caricature samples with their photos on this website, you can get an idea of what I can achieve for you.
