What do I need to provide for a caricature?

You will need to supply the best quality photos you have of the subject. The better the photos, the better the likeness I can achieve. If you'd like to have the larger caricature, that includes surrounding detail on the illustration, then I will need a list of the subject's favourite hobbies and interests/funny stories.

Will my photos be good enough for a caricature?

The more photos you can lay your hands on the better (5 at least if possible). A few close-ups and side views help achieve the best caricatures. I will need to know the colour of the person's eyes and hair as some photos give the wrong impression. Please ensure that your photos are not too big when emailing them to me (preferably no bigger than 1mb each). More information can be found here.

What happens to my photos on completion of the illustration?

Emailed photos - These are deleted from all digital devices and email attachments.

Hardcopy photos - These are returned with your illustration as either Royal Mail 'signed for' or 'Special Delivery' or handed back to the customer, if collecting.

Memory Key/cd photos - These are returned with your illustration as either Royal Mail 'signed for' or 'Special Delivery' or handed back to the customer, if collecting.

How long will it take (caricatures and cartoons)?

Because of the range I offer, it really depends on my workload at the time. Just email me with your preferred deadline and I will do my best to achieve it.

How much are your caricatures?

It really depends on how much you want in your illustration. Prices can be found in my 'caricatures From Photos' Section. If you'd like a large background, the price will increase due to the extra time involved.

Is a proof available?

Proofs of faces are not provided because a likeness is rarely achieved until the illustration is fully complete (by adding shading or colour, etc). For larger illustrations that include surrounding objects and background, a rough pencil outline sketch can be emailed to the customer for approval. If any changes are required they will then be made before the finished artwork is posted. This sketch is used to see if the customer approves of the composition and content. 

How will I receive my Illustration?

'Pastel' - Hand produced on quality cartridge paper and sent in 'toblerone-style' packaging via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

'Digital' - High quality 'Epson Archival Matte' paper is used to print your caricature Illustration and it is delivered via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. A3 in 'toblerone-style' packaging and A4 in a hard-backed envelope.

'Pencil' (previously called 'Superfine Detail') - Hand produced on high quality cartridge paper and sent in 'toblerone-style' packaging via Royal Mail Special Delivery. 

Can I make my own copies of my caricature?

As the originator of the artwork, I hold the copyright. You can have copies made for your own personal use but cannot use it for commercial use without prior permission from me. The copyright of the illustration can be purchased for a fee - please contact me for more details.

Do you provide a framing service?

Yes! I can offer a black wooden frame (including a mount too) for an A3 illustration These frames come with a good quality 'post friendly' acrylic, which is almost identical in look and weight to glass. The final outside size of the frame is 54cm x 44cm. All ready to hang on your subject's wall as it also comes complete with fittings and cord added too! Please see more in the various sections. Larger frames are also available for my wedding guestboards (collection only). 

Do you supply caricatures outside the UK?

Unfortunately, at present, I do not post illustrations outside the UK.

How do I pay?

There are 3 ways in which you can pay: PayPal (you don't have to be a member to pay through secure PayPal, you can pay by card like you do through other websites), Direct Bank Transfer or Cheque. Unfortunately, I do not accept company Purchase Orders.

1. PayPal: On confirmation of your commission, Please go to the 'From Photos' on my website then down to 'Paying by card/PayPal'. Simply click on the button (ignoring the '£0.00' box above) and input the amount to send payment.

2. Direct Bank Transfer: On confirmation of your commission, I will email you my bank details. A receipt will then be emailed to you shortly afterwards. 

3. Cheque: On confirmation of your commission, I will email you my postal address. Please make cheques payable to 'A.P. Marriott'.
